Antibody and Soluble Protein Expression
The expression and purification of antibodies or soluble proteins are necessary for biotherapeutics discovery and development. With the many expression systems and biotherapeutic modalities available, choosing which one is suitable for your therapeutic candidates is essential for moving your program forward.
Access Custom and Consistent Protein Production for Your Discovery Program
Eurofins Discovery offers a team of experienced protein scientists with proficiency in E. coli, insect, and mammalian expression systems. We determine and use the appropriate production platform for scalable delivery of high-purity, low-endotoxin protein for each protein or antibody. These capabilities can be integrated into a larger reagent generation, antibody characterization, preclinical development, or comprehensive, end-to-end project. Our global locations also ensure we adhere to your timelines without compromising quality or yield.
Mammalian Expression Systems
Mammalian cell-based expression platforms are central to biotherapeutics development, particularly for proteins that undergo critical post-translational modifications. These expression systems are well-suited for producing more stable, less immunogenic monoclonal, single-domain, or multispecific antibodies and other proteins. We use HEK and CHO cells to achieve large batch sizes, ensuring high-quality and scalable production that meets regulatory requirements.
Bacterial Expression Systems
Bacterial expression platforms are capable of rapid and cost-effective recombinant protein production. Bacteria lack the machinery for post-translational modification but can be perfect for expressing key reagents and simple biologics, making them a useful component in the drug development pipeline. Eurofins Discovery’s protein production experts employ E. coli-based expression for high-yield soluble recombinant or native proteins at various batch sizes.
Insect Expression Systems
Insect cell-based expression systems provide another eukaryotic platform for expressing soluble proteins that require post-translational modifications for folding and/or function. They can produce high yields of complex proteins, similar to mammalian expression systems. Our protein production team uses Sf9 and Sf21 insect cells to express active enzymes, such as kinases, and can produce various batch sizes as needed.
